The Style panel in the editor sets how a track's subtitles look: the font, its size and colour, the background behind the text and how opaque it is. Changes show immediately in the preview and are used as they are in the burned-in video export. This guide also lists every font available and explains how Fluen handles languages with their own scripts.
Open the Style panel
In the editor, click Style in the toolbar above the subtitle list. (Clicking a subtitle in the video preview opens a smaller floating toolbar with the same controls.) Whatever you change here applies to the whole track.
Pick a preset, or choose a font
Six presets give you a finished look in one click: Classic, Clean, Broadcast, Bold, Cinematic and Pop. Hover to preview, click to apply. Presets change the font, colours and background; they leave the font size and the layout alone.
To choose the font yourself, open the Font menu. Each option is drawn in its own typeface, and the search box at the top filters the list as you type. Fonts are grouped into Popular, All fonts, and a greyed-out Limited support group for fonts that cannot display every character of the track's language (those cannot be selected, so you never end up with missing glyphs in an export).
Adjust colour, background and opacity
- The swatch next to the font sets the text colour.
- Background: Letterbox (a solid box behind the text), Outline (a contour around each letter), Drop Shadow, or None. The swatch next to it sets the background colour.
- Opacity makes the background more or less transparent, from 0 to 100%. With Outline the opacity is fixed at 100%, because a half-transparent outline blends into the video and makes the letters look faded.

Make it the default for new tracks
If you always want the same look, set it once in Workspace Settings under Style & Font: the same presets and controls, with a live preview. New tracks in that workspace start from it; any track can still be restyled in the editor.
Fonts available in Fluen
Fifty-four fonts, all of them free to use in your exports. The eight marked with an asterisk were added in May 2026.

Languages with their own script
Not every font contains every alphabet. For tracks in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, Hebrew, Thai, Devanagari or Vietnamese, the Popular group at the top of the font menu is replaced by a curated list for that script (for Cyrillic, for example: Roboto, Montserrat, Open Sans, Noto Sans, Rubik and Arial Unicode MS), and fonts that would show missing characters are moved to the Limited support group. When a track is created, Fluen also picks a suitable default font for the language automatically, so exported video renders correctly without you touching anything.
